CardCaptor Sakura (12 volumes)

Sakura Kinomoto was just an average fourth-grader until one day, while looking through her father's library, she found The Clow, an enchanted book designed to hold a set of magical Clow Cards. But when Sakura opened the book, it was empty. Cerberus, the Creature of the Seal, emerged from the cover of the book and told Sakura the cards must be returned to the book. "If the cards aren't in the book, they come to life and do evil!" Cerberus, trapped in a cute stuffed toy form and known as Kero-chan, formed a contract with Sakura and made her a Cardcaptor. Sakura and her best friend, Tomoyo, who loves to dress Sakura up in fanciful costumes when she goes card-capturing, embark on a mystical journey to capture all the Clow Cards before the Cards can wreak chaos and destruction. Along the way, they learn the mystery behind the creator of the cards, Clow Reed, and his true connection to Sakura's family. [Tokyopop]
