Les Bijoux (5 volumes)

Story & Art by Sang-Sun PARK (Tarot Cafe, Ark Angels).

What Tokyopop says: "Welcome to a world divided into 12 Mines -- each of them its own land -- dominated by a rigid social class structure in which the 'Habit' exists to rule and the 'Spar' exist to serve. Their future dim and seemingly set in stone, the Spar find hope in an unlikely hero: the androgynous child born of a dwarf and hunchback who is prophesied to overthrow the tyrannical rulers. Les Bijoux is the compelling tale of Lapis - who in his feminine form becomes Lazuli - and his struggle against an oppressive and dehumanizing regime." From the buzz I've heard, this book doesn't live up to its premise and quickly goes downhill after the first volume.
